Honeywell Aerospace has announced plans to invest $500 million in a new advanced manufacturing facility in Tempe, Arizona, expanding production capacity and supporting growing demand across the commercial aviation and defence sectors.
Announced on 28 October 2026, the 300,000-square-foot facility will incorporate advanced manufacturing technologies, including robotics, digital twins and automated inspection systems.
The development is expected to create approximately 600 permanent jobs over time, with operations scheduled to begin in late 2028.
Expanding aerospace manufacturing capabilities
The new facility will be developed at Honeywell Aerospace’s existing Tempe campus, near its global headquarters in Phoenix.
It will provide additional manufacturing capacity for current and next-generation aerospace technologies, supporting commercial aviation customers and priority defence programmes.
The investment will also expand Honeywell Aerospace’s internal complex machining capabilities, reducing reliance on external suppliers and strengthening supply-chain resilience.
The new production capacity will support advanced products, including the company’s Assure actuation systems and Attune vapour cycle cooling subsystems.
Introducing advanced digital manufacturing
The facility will incorporate an integrated digital production system designed to improve manufacturing efficiency, consistency and operational visibility.
Planned technologies include modular robotics, automated inspection, digital twins and connected production processes supported by an end-to-end digital thread.
These capabilities will enable greater integration between manufacturing equipment, engineering systems and production data.
Jim Currier, President and Chief Executive Officer of Honeywell Aerospace, said the investment reflects increasing demand for the company’s technologies across commercial and defence markets.
The company also highlighted the benefits of expanding production capacity within its existing manufacturing operations in Arizona.
Supporting employment and industrial growth
The development is expected to create approximately 600 permanent positions, strengthening the company’s engineering and manufacturing workforce.
Construction is also expected to support more than 1,000 local jobs.
The new facility will increase Honeywell Aerospace’s ability to manufacture complex components internally while supporting its longer-term production requirements.
With operations planned for late 2028, the investment represents a substantial expansion of advanced manufacturing capacity in the US aerospace industry.
The project also highlights the increasing adoption of digitally connected production technologies as manufacturers seek greater efficiency, flexibility and control over complex supply chains.
